and more things !

My Uncle Bill, probably about 1949 in one of our
Club Scrambles. 350 AJS.
Bill loved the Speed Events !! No fear .... look at the grin

Sorry for the quality, but it shows the period very well, around 1935 at Carfraemill Speed Hillclimb, just south of Edinburgh. Just shirtsleeves, no crash helmet the good old days!! I have competed here myself in the 1950's. There was a Speed Hill and a Freak Hill climb. Speed was as above, fastest up. The Freak hill was just opposite, and the winner was the one who got further up the hill than anybody else!!. Gradient at top 1:1 Click image for larger view !

Probably a Triumph 250 around 1935 by the Registration. This model was very popular in competition events, we had one of Dad's from 1938 which we used at Carfraemill several times. You should have heard my BSA Bantam there with a copper tuned exhaust and megaphone fitted.Did not go any faster, but sounded better!! The hours I spent polishing out the ports !!!

The MEAN MACHINE !
Around 1934 by the Reg no on the Bike
