The Scott Motorcycle Company

1908 Scott motorcycleHere are some items that may interest all you 'SCOTT' fans.

This shows how the engine design and layout began to take shape around 1908.

The Scott stuck with this design up to the last bike made by them, very advanced in their day, but there was no real development. I think it was a great pity, as they were so much pure fun to ride, and the performance of our Sprint Special made me realise why Dad ..and so many others.. had such a soft spot for them.1912 Scott motorcycle

If we go forward 4 years,on the right is the New Scott in 1912.This is the Two speed model, yes only 2 gears. You see the same layout, nothing else looked like a 1924 Scott motorcycleScott !!

Left, if we go to 1924 what do we get ? This one now has 3 gears. The two speed model was very popular, and it's performance was ( I'm told ) very good due to the power delivery of the twin two-stroke engine.1926 Scott motorcycle

.

How about 1926, I hear you say ..... well now ... that looks more like it!
This is a 1926 Flying Squirrel, but still with 2 gears. The Two speeder was made up to 1930.

Dad liked this model and used quite a few, but only on the road, no competition work with them

Here is a nice photograph sent to me by Brian Skinner, it shows his Father and Mother enjoying a day out with their Scott outfit - like the Carbide lamps ?

He thinks it was taken around 1931 , not sure where but mentions they liked to go to the Isle of Man for the TT Races
Registration Number is EC7863 - does anybody know if this machine still exists ? If so please get in touch with me and I will pass it on to Brian

By the registration number (Westmorland) it must date from around 1926
