Brough-Superior & Scott.
The Perfect Pair

These two makes may seem to be not very well matched to some people, as they had an entirely different approach to Motorcycles. The Brough was a big, and heavy,1000 cc. air cooled V.Twin. The Scott on the other hand, was a light, water cooled parallel Twin Two Stroke of either 500cc. or 600cc.

The two types of engines gave a totally different ride, but both bikes were very much a match for each other in the late 1920's to early 1930's.

Many of the roads had a poor surface and very winding, which suited the Scott with it's better handling. These were my Father's two favourite makes, Dad is on the Brough here and his pal Tommy Hughson is on a Scott.

I have been lucky enough to have ridden good examples of each make that we had during the 1950 / 60's, and can back up Dad's opinion about this. The two bikes were, a 1930 Sprint Special Scott and a 1936 SS100 Brough-Superior. You will find more about these bikes in the site....and others as well !
