My Other Bike is
Or
should that be was ?
A Supercharged 500cc Hagon-JAP
This photo was taken about 1987 at Pembry Airfield, South Wales.
Rider is David Madden.
David had this bike for a period of 17 years, and had the fastest time of the day in 1987 at Hoghton Tower Sprint.
It could do the
standing start quarter mile in 11 secs. with a terminal velocity of 124 MPH,
with a best time of 132 MPH over the standing Kilo.
The engine was developed from a standard 500cc JAP, to become a supercharged 500cc Weslake engine running on a 25% Nitromethane mixture.
He last rode this bike at Westonzoyland Airfield, when the throttle stuck wide open and the engine kill button refused to work. Being a sprinter, why have brakes, they only slow you down !
Having demolished a farm gate at the end of the runway, David gathered the bit's up (himself as well !) and the remains were sold. (not Him !) The bike is being re-built at the moment by someone else.
