Memories 6
The Flower Pageant

In July 1934 the 'Edinburgh Evening News' News Paper decided to have a Flower Pageant in Edinburgh.
This was to take the form of decorated floats and all types of vehicles. There was a class for 3 wheelers.
Dad entered a Triumph sidecar outfit, specially finished in white. This was then decorated with a bower made from white roses. I'm told that it even smelled good !.......and it WON the 3 wheeled class.
Click either to see the Triumph outfit on it's own

We still have the beautiful Silver Rose bowl which was awarded to the winner, and newspaper cuttings.
.

Another entrant was a Morgan, done up as a WW 1 fighter...with wing mounted guns ! Actually, I always thought the Morgan should have won !

The final shot from the Flower Pageant is this one.

Sorry, I cannot tell you anything about it, but it does look as though it is a much older machine. Again a side-car outfit, I cannot find the reg. number in my book to give you an age.
